Welcome to the official website of the 2nd Annual Krygiel/Daley Adoption Challenge.  For this year's challenge, our family is reaching out to a Lansing, Michigan couple in the hopes of helping them finalize their adoption of a 2-year old girl from Thailand.

Our goal is to raise $3,500 to help Matt and Liz bring little Lyla Grace home and begin their new life together.  Matt and Liz have been selected to receive a grant in that amount from the Gift of Adoption Fund and our family is delighted to be this grant's sponsor.  We invite you to join us in this loving and extremely rewarding endeavor.

Matt's path to adoption actually began at age 8.  That's when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a cancer that eventually spread to 75% of his upper body.  A bone marrow transplant and aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatment have long cured Matt of his cancer, but have left him unable to have children.

When Matt and Liz got married in 2005, they immediately began saving and preparing for an adoption.  After years of preseverance, they were finally within reach of bringing their daughter home when unexpected costs late in the process pushed them well over what they had budgeted and saved.  Fearing that their adoption would be delayed further (or even that it would fall through altogether), this grant now gives Matt and Liz the peace of knowing that their daughter will, in fact, soon be coming home.

Lyla Grace is a two-and-a-half year old girl who has lived her whole life in an orphanage in Thailand.  She has already undergone surgery to repair a congenital heart defect, but she is still in need of surgery to repair a cleft palate.  Matt and Liz have asked to postpone that surgery until she comes home, so that they can care for her as she heals.  This adoption will give Lyla a whole new world of possibilities, and the opportunity to come to know the comfort and safety that come only from being part of a loving family.
