ONLY 1 WEEK LEFT TO BE A HERO!
I recently accepted the challenge to raise funds to support the building of an irrigation well in the village of Worja in Ethiopia. Ethiopia is the second poorest country in the world. Without an irrigation system, the villagers of Worja can only grow crops during the 3 to 4 months a year that it rains. The other 8 to 9 months, the people don’t have food. In years of drought (like 2008 and 2009), there is wide-spread famine and starvation. Our irrigation project will literally save lives.
With this well, the Village of Worja will have access to food year round. Plus we have a plan to follow-up with high yield grain and farming training to create a surplus of crops to sell locally. The income will give the villagers access to a more balanced diet and allow them to buy clothing, soap, and medicines and basic education. It is amazing what a small amount of money can do for so many people.
It’s ironic – even though $10 wouldn’t even buy two lunches in the US or Canada, in Ethiopia that same $10 can literally mean the difference between life and death.
Please help me build this well by donating today. I truly appreciate your generosity and will keep you posted on the progress of this important project.
Sincerely,
-Jeff Popoff
