It’s the 2008 Super Plunge!!!! It’s that time of the year again to make that frigid dip into Hurricane Harbor at Magic Mountain to raise money for Special Olympics of Santa Clarita. This is a 24 hour event starting at 9am May 2nd through 9am May 3rd.
My name is Jeff Ross, and I am the father of Kevin Ross who participates in the Special Olympic program in Santa Clarita. I have been coaching Special Olympics sports for many years which include basketball, softball, floor hockey and bowling. It gives me great satisfaction to be a part of this organization as without it a lot of these athletes would not progress fundamentally, physically, mentally and emotionally. For me this is a great way to “pay it forward” and for me to give back to my community.
This will be the second year that we will be bringing awareness and raising funds for Special Olympics Santa Clarita. We have over 535 athletes that depend on events such as this and others throughout the year to raise funds. Last year we raised over $55,000 with less than two dozen of us racing into the chilly waters 24 times. This year we have set a goal to raise $100,000. but we need your help. Please donate through your heart this year. Funds raised will benefit Special Olympics Santa Clarita by providing them with much needed uniforms, equipment for all 17 sports we offer year round and transportation to tournaments.
Thank you,
Jeff and Kevin Ross
