There are very few times when you can pinpoint a single event in your life that changes your outlook on the world and your place in it. My experience at Camp Outright this summer was one of those moments for me. Witnessing the courage and bravery of young people who are not afraid or ashamed to be themselves as queer, gay, lesbian, bi, and transgender (to name a few) was inspirational and transformative.
I felt humbled, blessed, privileged, and awestruck by the immense amount of love, acceptance, and hope that had been expressed among these youth and my new and old friends on staff. I've come to know how important it is to provide youth with the opportunity to be themselves without fear of persecution.
Participating in the Fire Truck Pull this year is just one way I am trying to give back to Outright Vermont so that they can continue to do great work that makes a difference in the lives of young people who are coming to recognize and understand their identity!
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
