Jema 's Kid Walk Page!!!
Thank you for visiting my Kid Walk page!
As many of you know, I became a CASA volunteer advocate last October. I was assigned my first case in February and have been meeting once a week with "Lizzie" ever since. She's a gorgeous little 11 year-old girl who can't wait until her mom gets off drugs so they can be a family again. Although being a CASA volunteer is a lot of work, I'm so happy that she has me as a consistent person in her life. Since she was abandonded by her mother, she's had three social workers, lived in two foster homes, had three lawyers, and gone to two different schools. Her mom has lived in four different places, in between bouts of homelessness, causing lots of cancelled visits and inconsistency.
Abused and neglected children need CASA's to keep things from slipping through the cracks. I helped Lizzie get her only possessions back when they were left behind at her first foster home. When I discovered the need for 7 cavity fillings in her case file, I helped get her to the dentist, over her fear of shots, and all of her cavities filled.
I'm on the "CASA Cares" office team for the Kid Walk again this year, and we want to raise even more than we raised last year! My goal for us is $5,000 - $1,000 each.
I'm sure you're asked to support many worthy causes, so I'd like to thank you for considering this one that is so close to my heart. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Hugs!
Jema :)
