I have committed to running the Lincoln 1/2 Martathon this year In Loving Memory of Jessica Lutton Bedient. My cousin Tony and his wife Jess were married on September 3, 2010. Just 5 weeks later, they were hit by a drunk driver in Omaha, and were both critically injured. Jess's injuries were fatal, while Tony continues to recover physically and emotionally from the crash. 

Jess was so involved in community and world-wide service. She spent time in several countries including the Phillipines and Tanzania volunteering at orphanages. She wanted to take Tony to Haiti for their Honeymoon, which unfortunately never happened, as they were hoping to Honeymoon in January when they were both on break from school. 

Our team "Run for Jess" goal is to raise $20,000 as we train for the 1/2 marathon, in order to fullfill one of Jess's goals in life....build a school in Tanzania. I hope to travel with my cousin Tony and other family & friends in 2012 to Tanzania to build this school in Jess's loving memory.
