Jenn Frederick's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I'm Jenn and I have had Juvenile Diabetes for over 11 years. A few days after my second birthday, my parents took me to the doctor. I hadn't been feeling well. I was drinking gallons of water a day and going to the bathroom very frequently. The doctors told my parents I was "too young" to have diabetes, but ran tests mostly for my parents' comfort. As it turned out, I had Type 1, or Juvenile Diabetes. Diabetes is a disease where my own immune system attacked and killed my pancreatic cells. These cells produce an enzyme called insulin which aids the digestive system. Without insulin, a person dies. I was sent to the hospital where the nurses had to teach my parents how to check my sugar and give me injections of insulin.
I experience high blood sugars that make me feel light headed and nauseous, and low blood sugars which make me feel tired and very "out of it". I am currently on an insulin pump which continuously administers insulin. When I eat meals and when my blood sugars are too high, I have to put in more. Although it eliminates daily shots...it is NOT a cure. I need your help to raise money for research in hopes that we will find a cure soon - hopefully with in my lifetime.
