Hello and thank you for visiting RESCUE's PetWalk Page!
RESCUE is participating in the 1st Annual 5k PetWalk in January, 2009. RESCUE is a not for profit organization dedicated to saving the homeless dogs and cats that are on the "kill lists"!
Why should you make a donation to RESCUE? There are over 9,000 "reasons" why. This is a story about two "reasons:"
"I wanted to drop a note to all of you at RESCUE to say thank you. Thank you for your efforts. If you think what you do does not matter, please read on.
We had to put our RESCUE dog down this morning. A dog that was probably the best dog I have ever owned or should I say she owned us.
We adopted Pinot in 1996. This gold lab/retriever mix of a dog we would name Pinot was scheduled to be put down the next day because "she just kept having puppies" according to the drop off report.
My wife Lisa saw Pinot at the PetSmart and wanted to bring her home. I was working in the yard at the time and she called me and said she just had to bring this dog home. I relented.
When she brought this underweight by 20 lbs., just finished weaning puppies dog into the house I thought she was out of her mind. She looked pathetic. Little did I know. Pinot turned out to be a fantastic dog. Great with kids (although we do not have any) great with people and always wanting to meet the next dog...
She was so good we added her sister Maggie another RESCUE dog a year later (See Picture, Pinot is on the chair poolside). These two dogs hit pay-dirt. They have been great, having the run of the house, dog-doors to come and go during the day and going to the groomer every two weeks. These dogs are loved. They are a part of our family....
Since they were adopted from RESCUE they NEVER spent another night in a kennel. Whenever we travel we have a house-sitter.
When they were sick, we took them to Dr. Lister at Foothills Animal Hospital. It is there that Dr. Lister brought Pinot full-circle this morning.
What you do at RESCUE is important! Important because you give "pets" a second chance.
Important because you bring a friend(s) into someone's home in a catch and release kind of way.
Important to us because you gave us a dog that really does have a following....a following of family and friends that are a little sadder today because Pinot (the P-Girl) is gone.
Thanks for all you do. It does matter.
All the best,
Lisa and Chuck"
Your support helps us help more dogs like Maggie and Pinot find their forever families where they can have a second chance at love and life!
