It may seem crazy during these times to volunteer my time in a foreign country, but I've never been more excited!

Chile is a country full of culture, diversity, and has its own take on latino culture. I am looking forward to gaining knowledge and experience in a place that seems so foreign in relation to my own culture.

Probably the main focus of my time in Chile is to actually make a difference in my students’ lives. The reality for most Chilean lower class children is unless they acquire advanced education including English instruction; they will most likely look forward to a future of domestic service and poverty. Realities like this make me exceeding grateful to live in a society where one can elevate their way of life in one generation, which for most families in Chile would be out of the question.

People always say they want to make a difference, but never do anything out of their comfort zone to make it happen. I want to give my students every opportunity for success, and I am hopeful that this will happen by volunteering my time.
