I WAS RUNNIN'
In January, I will be participating in the Miracles in Motion program through the Phoenix Children's Hospital and completing 13.1 miles in the PF Changs Rock N' Roll Marathon in honor of two very special people...
Three years ago I was introduced to a little boy who has become a light in my life...Little Matty Sabetta! For those of you who don’t know, The picture on my page is of Matty, who is the son of my friend and coworker Sarah Sabetta (also pictured). He was born with Williams Syndrome, which is a rare genetic disorder. With Williams Syndrome comes a variety of challenges…developmental delays, sensory processing dysfunction, and other medical problems such as eosinophilic esophagitis, food allergies, and some congenital heart defects. He is now five years old and through the 3 years that I have known him, I have experienced him growing, learning how to walk and talk as well as overcoming obstacles that we weren’t sure would be possible. My life has been touched by Matty and I am always looking forward to the day that I get to see him and his smiling face.
My other inspiration is a little boy named Quincy. From the day that Quincy was born, he has shown strength that some of us will never see from a two year old. Quincy has been diagnosed with Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, Interrupted Aortic Arch, Tricuspid Atresia, D-Transposition, Cleft lip and Cleft Palate. To most people this is something that would cause great pain; fortunately - as a result of his defects - he feels none. A regular little SUPERMAN as his family calls him. Today Quincy can be found at home doing anything from playing with the dog, to dancing, or just spending quality time with his family. Although these last two years have been nothing short of difficult, this was a time when Quincy revealed to the world the fight he possessed that made him so remarkably strong!By getting out there to support Quincy and Matty, I know that I am helping to better their lives and the lives of others at Phoenix Children’s hospital.
