Special Olympics changes lives by benefiting more than 9,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across our Commonwealth and impacts communities in many powerful ways. Special Olympics Virginia uses sports as a catalyst to change society’s perceptions and treatment of people with intellectual disabilities. Last year was my 1st year participating in this event for a great cause.  My team likes to have different costume themes each year.  Where's Waldo was our theme for 2010 and boy, did I pick a perfect year as my first event.  IT SNOWED!!!  Not to mention, our team won 1st place in fundraising for a team of our size.  I have many of you to thank for making that happen.  This year, my team is doing a Pirate theme.  We are very excited and hope to secure 1st place in fundraising again this year!!!
