We have been the blessed recipients of the uncompensated care program for almost 4 years now.  For those of you who don't know, this program is what allows Seattle Children's to offer medical care to any and every child in Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska, regardless of a family's insurance status or ability to pay. 

This program allowed us to stay in Seattle, near family and friends, for Zoe's transplant rather than move to California.  It also took about a million pounds of worry off our shoulders. 

Among many other things, this program actually saves the lives of children who need transplants.  Without great insurance that covers all of the cost of a transplant a family is responsible for raising that money, themselves, before the transplant can occur.  This program steps in and fills that gap allowing families to focus on what's most important - getting their children well.
