On May 2, 2009, Save the Chimps' Founder and Director, and my friend and mentor, Carole Noon, died of pancreatic cancer. May 5, 2009, was my 38th birthday, and on that day, one of my elderly chimpanzee friends, Ethyl, passed away in her sleep of heart diease. Needless to say, my 38th birthday wasn't the happiest. However, I had planned to raise money for Save the Chimps for my birthday, and I am going to follow through on that! Won't you make my belated birthday brighter by supporting Save the Chimps?
This handsome fellow is Virgil, hands down one of the sweetest, most playful and fun-loving chimps I know. Just look at that face! Virgil was born in a lab, taken from his mother at bith, and used in biomedical experiments. He was rescued in 2002 when Save the Chimps took over the lab he lived in. I met Virgil in 2003 when I started working for Save the Chimps, and immediately fell in love! Caring for chimps like Virgil who have suffered at the hands of humans is my passion, and I hope you will help me to continue to provide the care that they deserve by donating to my cause.
I have a lofty goal of trying to find 1,000 people to donate $38, or 100 people to donate $380, or 10 people to donate $3800, or one person to donate $38,000--whatever it takes to reach my goal of $38,000 for my 38th birthday for Save the Chimps! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Visit www.savethechimps.org for more info. You can donate directly through their website also, but please note that it is in honor of Jen's birthday so that I can count your gift towards my goal!
ALL DONATIONS MADE TO SAVE THE CHIMPS WILL BE MATCHED BY THE ARCUS FOUNDATION (UP TO $750,000) NOW THROUGH APRIL 2010. SO YOUR DONATION GOES TWICE AS FAR!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
