FOR MY MAN, G!!!!
To Friends and Family,
I hope this finds you all happy, healthy and safe!
Many of you know and for those of you that do not know my nephew, Genaro, was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. Genaro is now six years old and just started kindergarten at Kellogg school in Santa Barbara, CA. He is the older brother to his beautiful sisters Gianna and Lia and son to wonderful parents Marc and Liz.
When he was first diagnosed no one in our family was really familiar with autism. But over the past few years we have all learned so much, especially, how common autism is and how many children it affects. Genaro's parents, Marc and Liz, have done a tremendous job raising this little guy. Giving him every opportunity educationally, medically and socially to become adjusted, healthy and happy.
Getting to know G (that is what we all call him) over the past 6 years has been a tremendous experience. He was my first nephew and that will always hold a special place in my heart. Although he may not talk he communicates his personality in so many other ways. Through laughter, smiles and energy you can just tell he is such a great kid and wonderful person.
He is so special to me I wanted to do something in his honor and for him. That is when I found the Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism. This charity raises money for children with autism and autism research (there is more info about Dougie's Team on this website). They will be a sponsor of the 2005 Boston Marathon and I will be running and fundraising for them in honor of my beloved nephew, Genaro Thomas Gamberdella.
So that is where you all come in....see you knew there was a catch! Anything you can donate towards the cause would be greatly appreciated. Even the littlest sum of money makes a difference. As you can see from this website it is very easy to make your donation you can even use a credit card. All donations must be posted by NO LATER then April 1st, 2005. The race will take place on April 18th, say a prayer that I finish!!!
