FOR MY LITTLE G-MAN!!!
Dear Family and Friends,
The time of year is upon us again for the Boston Marathon 2006. I will once again be participating and raising money in honor of my beautiful nephew, Genaro Thomas Gamberdella.
As a reminder for those of you who don't know, Genaro (7) is my nephew and was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2. Genaro and his family just recently moved from Santa Barbara (our hometown) to
San Mateo, CA , to attend a school more suited for his needs. He is the older brother to his beautiful sisters, Gianna and Lia, and son to wonderful parents, Marc and Liz. Genaro is thriving at his new school and the whole family is enjoying life in their new home in the Bay Area. Over the last year I have enjoyed the limited time I got to spend with "G" (his nickname). And the most amazing part was when he came to
Boston last year to cheer me on as I ran the race. It was truly amazing to see his adorable face when I crossed the finish line and it made all the fundraising efforts and training worthwhile.
Genaro and his family left
Santa Barbara , which was incredibly difficult for everyone involved, due to a lack of appropriate resources for children with autism. With the hope of improving this state of affairs back home, I have decided to give my fundraising dollars this year to the Autism Society of America - Santa Barbara Chapter (more info on left). ASASB is the leading, if not only non-profit in
Santa Barbara
County dedicated to helping families living with autism. ASASB’s cornerstone efforts are to lend support, education, advocacy, and raise public awareness. I want to help them in this great mission, for the benefit of other children like Genaro in the
Santa Barbara community.
Last year with your help, we raised over $6000!!! It was such an amazing experience and I was so overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone involved. So this year I will attempt to do the same with your help of course! Anything you can donate to the cause will be greatly appreciated, no matter how small! I am asking that you donate no later than the race date which is APRIL 17th, 2006.
It is a simple process of making the donation online using a credit card or you can always mail me a check payable to: ASASB and send to Jennifer Gamberdella, 91 Prince Street # 9, Boston, MA,
02113.
Please feel free to forward this link on to ANYONE you feel would be interested in donating. Last year by your efforts to spread the word we had many additional donors.
If you have any questions, concerns or comments feel free to email me at jennyg46@hotmail.com or call me on my cell at 617-921-4208. In advance I would like to thank you for reading this letter and your consideration of donating to the cause.
Regards,
Jenn
