FOR GENARO AND ALL THOSE AFFECTED BY AUTISM...
Here we are once again – it’s BOSTON MARATHON time!! This year Jenn will be tackling her 7th Boston and Cara will line up for her second…both of us are taking on 26.2 miles in an effort to raise funds and awareness for autism resources, support and research.
Each year, we race in honor of our nephew, Genaro (12), and all of his family – our brother Marc, G’s dad, G’s mom Liz and his sisters Gianna and Lia. Diagnosed with autism at two years old, Genaro has taught all of our family about unconditional love, patience, wisdom and faith. As aunts to Genaro, we are daily amazed at what our brother, sister-in-law and nieces do everyday to make his world as comfortable and rich as all of ours.
Raising a child with autism is a 24/7 job that will last throughout the child’s life. All resources, activities and support for these children and their families are “golden”. As a team we will be raising $6500 for the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism. Based in Boston – and named after the famous quarterback’s oldest son – this foundation helps families in New England and Southern California manage the daily challenges of raising a child with autism.
You can donate on this website with your credit card or if you prefer to send a check please send directly to Jennifer Gamberdella at 12 Ticknor Street, Unit 1, Boston, MA, 02127.
It is truly an honor and an inspiration to run this race and to raise awareness and funds in honor of Genaro and his family. Thank you, in advance, for your support of Genaro, our effort and the great work of the Doug Flute, Jr. Foundation for Autism.
Warmest Regards,
Cara and Jenn
