Pounds for Pediatric Cancer (Connor's Heroes)
Did you know that pediatric cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children? Each and every school day, 46 children, or more than two full classrooms of kids, will be diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, in terms of cancer research dollars, children are at the bottom of the list. In fact, only two-thirds of children diagnosed with cancer survive. We can help!
You may be asking yourself how my weight loss efforts have anything to do with pediatric cancer? It doesn't, but it can't always about me! Ha ha. But seriously, I have been overweight my entire life. I decided to take charge of my health once and for all on December 22, 2010, when I got gastric bypass surgery. Since I have such an incredible weight loss journey ahead of me, I thought I'd focus my efforts on fundraising for a terrific cause while peeling off the pounds. Connor's Heroes Foundation has stolen my heart. They provide directs assistance to children and their families who are being treated for cancer in Richmond, Virginia. My weight loss is small potatoes given what these brave youngsters and their families must undergo.
I hope you will consider helping. You can donate a fixed amount through this webpage or you can email me at Jennifer.Homendy@gmail.com with a pledge per pound lost. Please keep in mind that if you go the per pound route my doctors estimate that I could lose up to 135 pounds. Be assured that donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. I've used it myself to contribute to other fundraisers. It is also, frankly, the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
