Jaymun's Journey Jaymun was born in July of 2006 with blueish spots all over his head and body. We didn't think much about it at first, thinking perhaps the "spots" were bruising, considering he was over twelve pounds at birth! He was transported down to Children's Hospital the very same day and after extensive testing and biopsies, the doctors delivered the devastating news that Jaymun had acute myeloid leukemia. His cancer diagnosis turned our world upside down. Jaymun spent the next six months in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy, radiation and a bone marrow transplant courtesy of his big brother Devon. Due to complications from the transplant, Jaymun spent two weeks in the ICU and we came extremely close to losing him. He pulled through, thanks to the many prayers of friends, family and complete strangers--not to mention the wisdom and compassion of all his many doctors and nurses. Our family is so grateful to still have Jaymun in our lives. He daily inspires us to celebrate the simple joys of waking up each day and being able to spend it together.
