NATIONAL STROKE ASSOCIATION

ING NYC Marathon New York,  New York

Jennifer Kragh's Fundraising Page

Hello friends!  Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I am so excited to be running in the NYC Marathon!  I can't wait to run (or drag myself if necessary) the 26.2 miles through NYC- it will most certainly be an amazing experience.

I consider it an honor to be running as a member of the team for the National Stroke Association.  As a member of the team, my goal is to raise awareness and funds for this important cause.

I wanted to join the stroke team because my life has been touched by stroke through family, friends and countless stroke victims with whom I have worked for the past eleven years as a speech-language pathologist.  I have seen how stroke can profoundly change the lives of the stroke victims and of their families.  Through those I have known, I have witnessed the hard work and determination it takes to make even the smallest of gains.  My life has been enriched by them all, and I know how fortunate I am to be able to particpate in an event like the NYC Marathon.

Currently my family is experiencing stroke.  My husband's grandmother, Helen, has been working hard to return to her home after suffering a stroke earlier this year.  She has been making progress and may soon return to her home in assisted living.

In early August, my father-in-law, Rich, had a stroke.   Rich and those around him knew the symptoms of stroke and got him to the hospital quickly. He has been striving to make improvements and was able to return home recently.  Rich is a wonderful man with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic.  Hopefully he will soon be enjoying some of his favorite activities- kayaking, geocaching and being active with his grandchildren

I will be running NYC with Helen, Rich and all the other stroke victims I have known as inspiration and motivation.

Please take a moment to check out www.stroke.org.  If you aren't already familiar with them, I urge you to learn the warning signs, risk factors and guidlines for prevention of stroke.

Should you like to make a donation, you may do so through this page.  Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support!
