Prax(us) has been doing intentional leadership development with youth through our Community Organizing Program, HartCore. We currently have three constituent organizers, the Alchemists, who receive stipends for their leadership work with HartCore. They are each amazing, strong, brilliant young people who are such important leaders. We would like to hire one of the Alchemists on as a part-time outreach worker.
We know that this is the right thing to do, but we need your help to do it. We are committed to raising $5,000 this summer to be able to hire one of the Alchemists on as staff. Please give as much as you’re able. Support this amazing opportunity to expand constituent leadership with your gift of $150, $100, $75, $50, $25, $10, or $5 today.
Prax(us) has long been an organization that is committed to having the people who are most affected by a problem leading the efforts to address it. After a year of intentional leadership development, Prax(us) shifting back into a co-directorship model, with at least one constituent Co-Director, Magalie Lerman. And, we plan to continue expanding constituent and participant leadership by growing and nurturing the Alchemists and the Community Organizing Program.
I’m asking you to give generously to ensure that the vision that I and so many other folks have for Prax(us), to be a fully constituent-led organization, becomes a reality. Help us raise $5,000 in the service of this vision. Help Prax(us) hire an Alchemist, thus expanding the reach, impact, and youth leadership of the Community Organizing Program. Please give today.
Meet our Alchemists:
Rain: Hello, my name is Rain and I am 22 years old and I am a HartCore Alchemist. For me, being an Alchemist with HardCore means transformation. I have transformed from just another homeless kid to someone who is a constituent of homelessness with a purpose. I am stronger now that I was. I am smarter now that I was. I am more aware now than I than I was. I have more purpose now that I had. Being an Alchemist has taught and continues to teach and enable me to combat and prevent the circumstances that put me in the dangerous position I was in before Prax(us). I am now involved in trying to help enable and empower others in the same or similar situations.
Angie: Four years ago I found myself to be one of the nearly 1,400 youth annually wondering the streets of Denver. As a young homeless female I was strung out on drugs and alone. I knew that I had options, selling my body was one of them and so was asking for help. An outreach worker from Prax(us) noticed me on the 16th street mall and the rest is history. Please help us raise $5,000 so that Prax(us) can hire a youth outreach worker. Please donate whatever you can and remember it takes all of us to combat human trafficking.
