Dear friends and family,

 

For the past month I have been teaching my preschool and childcare classes at the Weinstein Jewish Community Center about being a Big Buddy volunteer at Comfort Zone Camp, a bereavement camp for grieving children. Every Friday the children bring tzedakah (charity) money for a mitzvah (good deed). Every month the JCC mitzvah committee chooses an organization to donate the kid’s tzedakah to. This school year we have raised money to helped S.C.A.N. (Stop Child Abuse Now), Fetch, and bought winter coats and sweatshirts for less fortunate children. For the months of February AND March the mitzvah committee has chosen Comfort Zone Camp for my mitzvah! The fundraiser is called The JCC Preschool Mitzvah Project for Comfort Zone Camp. I know, it’s a mouth full.

 

Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit 501(c)3 bereavement camp that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. The free camps include confidence building programs and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Comfort Zone Camps are offered to children 7-17, and are held year-round in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Virginia. Comfort Zone provides grieving children with a voice, a place and a community in which to heal, grow and lead more fulfilling lives. All CZC camps are free of charge due to generous donations from individuals, corporations, civic, organizations and foundation grants (comfortzonecamp.org).

 

I have included a return envelope for your convenience if you choose to donate. The tzedakah money will be donated to CZC at the end of March. Our goal is to raise at least 500 dollars! 500 dollars sends one grieving kid to a weekend camp to CZC. Please remember that every little bit will help us complete our mitzvah, even if you send one dollar. You may donate in cash, check (made out to Comfort Zone Camp), or gift cards (Target or Wal-Mart used to buy camp supplies and food). Please donate in memory of a loved one or friend. Your memories and kindness will truly help Comfort Zone Camp.
