Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am participating in the New York City Half Marathon on March 18, 2012 as a member of Team Life Without Lupus. By joining the team, I pledged to raise a minimum of $1300 for the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation, the country's preeminent nonprofit organization serving the lupus community. Please join me with your support! I'm hoping to raise as much as possible for this great cause, every little bit helps!
Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disorder that affects 1.5 million Americans, primarily women between the ages of 18 and 44. As a result of the disease, the body's immune system can attack healthy organs or tissues, such as kidneys, lungs, heart, brain, skin, joints and blood. This disease personally affected my life when my mother, Carol, was recently diagnosed with systemic lupus.
Founded in 1970, the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation helps individuals with lupus and their families cope with the difficulties of this complex illness. The Foundation promotes early diagnosis and effective treatment of lupus through public awareness campaigns, professional education and patient services. They also fund innovative lupus research to identify new treatments, causes and a cure for this devastating disease.
With your support, we can move even closer to our goal of a life without lupus!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
