World Vision - 30 Hour Famine New York

30 Hour Famine - Jan-Mar 2008

Westfield Churches UNITE Against World Hunger

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for the 30 Hour Famine!

This February 22-23, 8 different churches from the Westfield area will unite together for a collaborative cause called World Vision's "30-Hour Famine".  We hope to "Starve Hunger" by fasting for 30 hours on behalf of children in desperate need.

In 2007, our goal was $43,000, and we surpassed it together by raising $47,550.  These funds helped children in nations such as Mali, Ethiopia, and Kenya where donations helped provide support such as nutrition assistance, emergency food and farming assistance, and clean water. With your help, World Vision will continue to work in all 23 countries affected by the food crisis including the United States.

Why are we doing it?  Hunger is one of the world's most preventable problems, yet 29,000 children die every day from hunger and hunger-related diseases.  That's 203,000 a week!  Every three seconds a child dies because he or she was malnourished or susceptible to disease.

Donating through this site is SIMPLE, FAST, and totally SECURE.  It is the most efficient way to sponsor us.  In famine-ravaged nations such as Zimbabwe and Sudan: - $30 will feed and care for a child for one month - $90 will feed and care for a child for three months - $360 will feed and care for one child for an entire year.

Thank you for joining us in the fight against world hunger!

Participating churches are:  Christ United Methodist- Piscataway, First Baptist- South Plainfield, First Baptist- Westfield, First Congregational Church- Westfield, First United Methodist- Westfield, Garwood Presbyterian, Redeemer Lutheran, and St. Helen's- Westfield.
