I am running the 2012 Boston Marathon for the Melanoma Foundation of New England in honor of my uncle Mark McKenna, who passed away on October 21, 2011 after a battle with Melanoma cancer. 

Mark was an incredible husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and I am running in his honor to garner support for an organization that provides a variety of educational programs targeting the prevention and early detection of skin cancer and melanoma for both children and adults as well as support for patients and caregivers dealing with Melanoma. A new initiative they have it to train hairdressers to look for cancerous moles on their client's scalps. This initiative is of high interest for me as Mark's cancer went undetected for a long time as it was on his scalp.
