Dear Friends and Family,

 

I hope you are all doing well and getting excited for Christmas. It is summer here in Tanzania, so hard to believe Christmas is so soon. I have already received the best Christmas present (explained below), but to make it fully come true I am asking for your help.

 

 Since September, I have been working to find a hospital that would operate on one of our patients. Renata Sulle, is an eight year old girl, who is suffering from heart disease. Tanzania has no pediatric heart surgeons, so this has forced us to find options abroad for mitral valve repair surgery.

 

After almost two months of  searching for a facility that would operate for free or at reduced cost, I essentially ended up empty handed. Luckily, two weeks ago, a German cardiologist,who was on Safari ,walked through our clinic doors. He promised to return to Germany and lobby for her. Last week, we received work that Renata will be able to have free open heart surgery and two-three weeks of free rehab in Germany. It was the best early christmas present for everyone here who has been working so hard to make this possible.

 

I have put this site together to raise money for the flights from Tanzania to Germany for Renata, her father, Andrea, and FAME's translator, Jacob.
