Hi everyone,
This November, I will be participating in the Brattle Theatre's Watch-a-thon fundraiser. That's right; other people may run, bike, or swim - I will sit and watch movies. The goal is to raise money while watching as many movies as possible between Nov. and Dec. 3rd.
The fundraiser supports the Brattle Film Foundation. This non-profit foundation supports three goals:
- Continuing the repertory programing at the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square
- Preserving films from neglect
- Distributing innovative works nationwide
It may not be curing cancer, but supporting the arts is important. The Brattle is one of the oldest independent theatres in the country. Their programming allows the community access to cutting edge independent and foreign films, as well as the chance to see classic movies on the big screen. Additionally, the foundation has been vital in preserving archival prints of several classic movies.
If you are interested in supporting my efforts (my oh-so-strenuous efforts), you can sponsor me with a flat participation amount (e.g. $5/$10 overall). Alternately, you can sponsor me on a per film basis (e.g. $1 per film I see). If you choose to give this way, let me know, and I will tell you how many movies I have seen on December 3rd, when the Watch-a-thon ends and you can donate then.
Just think - if everyone I know gives $5, you will all be $5 poorer.
And, of course, a fantastic local landmark will be that much better off. If you have any questions, please let me know and thanks in advance for your support!
