Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On July 24th-31st I will be traveling with a team of United Methodists from Vale UMC to Guatemala to work on a mission through the Highland Support Project. There are many ways that we will be giving to the people of a particular village of Guatemala but our main focus will be on Stove building. Here is a brief description of the importance of the new stoves.
- The women in this community are still cooking over an open fire in the middle their homes, which leads to upper respiratory infections in children and adults. These stoves improve the health, wealth, and environment of the community by channeling the thick smoke from cooking fires out of the unventilated brick dwellings. They decrease the amount of money women must spend on cooking fuel because they are significantly more fuel efficient. Finally, the stoves improve the environment of the community by decreasing the amount of deforestation regionally.
I became interested in joining the team when I heard about all of the stories from the last couple of years when my church has gone. This is the fifth year that my church has attended this mission and I want to become a part of this experience.
I believe that this mission trip will be an eye opener to me for my faith and trust in God. I am looking for anyone who would be willing to assist me with the financial area to fulfill my calling to help with this mission trip. Any amount is helpful and if you would like more information about the entire Highland Support Project you can visit the website www.highlandsupportproject.org.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
