Zippity Doo Dah
It was a spring afternoon and HAWS got a call, another spotting of yours truly. I lived around Pilgrim & Appleton in Menomonee Falls. I would sleep underneath bushes, men at the Water Department would share their lunches, and boy did I have it good, or so I thought! When Jes, an adoption counselor at HAWS, got the call she knew this was going to be an exciting adventure. She found out that I was being spotted for around 6 weeks but no one could catch me. For weeks one very nice couple had been feeding me and Jes thought this would be a great place to set a trap. She tried for weeks to no avail. I was caught in a couple fenced in yards but would dig out. A police aid almost netted me while I was napping but I woke up just in time. After at least 5 months on the run I was finally caught in a fenced in yard that I couldn't dig out of and brought to HAWS by the Menomonee Falls PD.
I was very afraid at first but soon formed a special bond with my pal Jes. Later, I came out of my shell and was adopted. 2 days after going to my new home I took off again. This time I was running the streets about a mile from HAWS. Jes thought since we were such good pals I might come to her but she was wrong. I just wasn't ready yet. HAWS once again set up traps and was very afraid because now it was fall and the temperatures were falling. After 2 months of tracking me and setting traps I finally decided to I was ready to go back to HAWS. I remember it well, it was the day before Thanksgiving and I was looking forward to the feast at HAWS. Jes came early that morning to check the trap and their I was. She was so excited she cried. (Personally I think she is a little over dramatic) I was taken back to the shelter and the search was on for yet another home for me. Finally a great couple came in to adopt me. I have been in my new home for 4 months now and sleep in bed with mom, dad, and even my beagle sister. I sure am thankful for HAWS' persistence and will always be grateful for everything they did. Please donate to help future lost souls like myself.
Thanks Again,
