Team PHA Walks for Hope!
Will you help us turn a pulmonary hypertension patient's dream of attending PHA's 2010 International Conference into a reality?
On November 7, the PHA staff will walk with the PH community for hope.
If you're unfamiliar with pulmonary hypertension (PH), here's some information about the disease:
- PH is completely different from systemic hypertension. PH is continuous high blood pressure in the lungs.
- PH is an underdiagnosed, currently incurable, and life-threatening illness.
- PH can affect people of any age or ethnicity.
- PH can make even the simplest tasks of daily living difficult.
- Symptoms include breathlessness, diziness and fatigue.
Funds raised by Team PHA at the 2009 Baltimore PH Walk for Hope will go to PHA's Conference Sch olarship Program, and will provide financial assistance to patients-in-need attending PHA's 2010 International Conference.
PHA's biennial International Conferences are an opportunity for patients and family members to form connections within the PH community and learn more about this life-altering disease. Watch the video from the 2008 International Conference (on left) to learn more about this unique event.
Ultimately, you would be giving the gift of hope and joy to another. In the words of one 2008 International Conference scholarship recipient:
What I liked the most [about Conference] would be too hard to pinpoint. If I had to pick one thing…fellowship. I liked meeting people like me. It gave me hope. I want to say thank you. I came here on a scholarship, and it was one of the best things I have ever done. I met dear friends. I learned a lot. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank YOU!
