Dear Family and Friends:

Guess what time it is? Buddy Walk time!

Let me tell you what I have been up to. This year I turned 5years old and I graduated from Pre-K in May and I am now offically a kindergardener! I actually started on Monday and I am having lots of fun making new friends. This summer I got to go to Walt Diney World and meet Mickey Mouse and his friends. I also enjoyed getting to participate in a math and reading program.

This year on October 10, 2010 we will be hosting our 7th Annual Buddy Walk in the Brazos Valley. We're looking forward to raising more money for the National Down Syndrome Society, and -- most important -- for all the activities and educational programs our  group provides families in this area.

Remember that this is our only annual fundraiser each year. And the money we raise is well-spent. We send kids like me to weekend camps, Handwriting Without Tears classes, Sign Language class, conferences and more. We ensure that all new parents of children with Down syndrome in our community have the information and support they need, and we also send some of our members to state and national workshops, so they can pass on the latest research and advocacy news to our members.

Together we go swimming, camping and go to educational classes. These activities give kids like me a chance to meet new friends, and they give our parents a chance to swap stories, laugh and learn from each other.
