Jessika Edgar's Polar Plunge Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I have been involved with Special Olympics for some time now. My sister Kayla is an athlete, and she is the one who inspired me to donate my time. About 5 years ago, Kayla was on a unified soccer team in Massachusetts, and I became a unified player. That was the beginning of our Special Olympics involvement. We kept up with soccer and tried a little softball. Then, 3 1/2 years ago, we moved to Santa Clarita, which has a wonderful program. At first, I stuck with Kayla, I coached track and field, softball, and helped out with floor hockey. Then, we stuck our feet into ice skating and volleyball. But now, we both are involved with a variety of sports including soccer, floor hockey, swimming, track and field (which I'm now head coaching for the spring), and bowling.
I kept getting involved because I loved to see a smile on Kayla's face. Special Olympics is something we can do together. And now, its about seeing smiles on every athletes face. A few hours of my week is defenitely worth being able to see the athletes, my friends, having fun. The best thing volunteers can provide is time and attention. Special Olympics is not only about an opportunity for sports training, but about creating a family.
So, if you can't donate your time, this is a great opportunity to help out! Every dollar counts!
P.S. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thanks so much,
Jessika
