Hi everyone!
This summer I will be participating in a life changing experience and I would like your help. I will be a team member of the JettRide 2012! For the second year in a row, I’m biking across the country to raise awareness for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (Duchenne).
For one month, I will cycle 1,500 miles, from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey. I will ride for boys who cannot, boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Over the course of the four weeks, our team will bike through 8 states and over 100 cities and towns. The ride will take off from Minnesota on July 1, 2012 and will arrive in New Jersey August 1, 2012.
I will be riding for my friend and neighbor, Jett McSherry, who is battling Duchenne muscular dystrophy. DMD is the most common lethal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood today, affecting approximately 1 out of every 3,500 boys. Duchenne causes loss of muscle function and independence, there is no known treatment or cure to date.
I am participating in this event, not only because unlike boys with Duchenne, I CAN, but also because the DMD community needs continued support to move ahead with urgently needed research and clinical trials. With your help, I will ride for those who cannot, each mile bringing us closer to finding a cure for Duchenne.
