Born in Connecticut, I've lived on a farm most of my good life, and just retired as a Vocational Instructor in Machining. I am an outdoor person and been involved with sports most of my life along with my two sons. I’ve traveled throughout the US including Alaska, Canada and China.
I participated coast to coast in the 2010 JettRide, and from MN to NJ in the 2011 JettRide. The experiences have been the two best things I’ve done in my life, for the boy’s with Duchenne, the other riders and myself. I work hard, have fun, laugh, make friends, help others and no hasn’t been part of my vocabulary. I am thrilled to be joining the 2012 JettRide team as the tour leader.
For 1 month, I will lead a group of teen cyclists 1,500 miles, across America! We will ride for boys who cannot, boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (Duchenne). Over the course of 4 weeks, our team will bike through 8 states and over 100 cities/towns. The ride takes off from MN on July 1, 2012 and will arrive in NJ on August 3, 2012.
Duchenne is the most common lethal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood today, affecting approximately 1 out of every 3,500 boys. Duchenne causes loss of muscle function and independence, there is no known treatment or cure for Duchenne.
