SAUL AND DAYEE G. HAAS FOUNDATION

"Give Secondary Students a Chance!" annual appeal campaign All over Washington State,  Washington

Jeyson Florez's Fundraising for Washington State Students

Hello friends and family!

So you probably got an email from me asking to donate to the Saul and Dayee G. Haas Foundation. So you're wondering, what exactly is the Haas Foundation? Well it’s an unbelievable organization that helps students throughout Washington State reach their potential. (That's why I volunteer there!)

How?

Simple, the Haas Foundation gives out grants to secondary schools, and when a student in a partner school has an immediate need, they can access those grants to make sure the student can continue to thrive in school. Last year we served 15,423 students in 690 schools across the state.

For example, let's say there was a young man named, ummm Jeyson Florez, and he is a terrific baseball player on a Seattle high school team. Jeyson however, has been striking out quite a bit lately, and it has nothing to do with his skills. Jeyson has poor vision, but Jeyson' mom is out of work with no insurance to get Jeyson the glasses he needs. Luckily Jeyson's school is a Haas Foundation partner, thus Jeyson is eligible for a grant to get new glasses. Haas helps Jeyson gets new glasses, he starts hitting doubles and triples, but more importantly finds it easier to study. Jeyson goes on to college on scholarship as a student athlete.

Stories like this really happen! The Haas Foundation makes them happen. Just take a look at our website and see the difference being made.

Volunteering at Haas, I can tell you first hand that students are the priority and that every $25 really makes a difference in the lives of students. I know economic times are tough, but I can assure you that they are even tougher for students that depend on Haas.

Thanks for listening and I hope you can help me out. Every little bit helps!
