10 year old basset hound in the KCAC shelter. A small grainy picture of what could be an older basset hound. Won't somebody please get this senior out of the shelter?
GEBR answered the call. A trip to the shelter revealed a scared, confused lab/bassset mix that had to be coaxed out of his kennel. A senior bassadore, severely arthritic with multiple fatty cysts and a large mass on his rear leg that is probably malignant. Scared and unsure what was going to happen next.
Just an old dog nobdy cared about. Obviously not given any of the loving extras in his life. Never allowed in the house. From the callouses on his body, never given a soft place to sleep. Although he was fed, it was not a good quality food.
GEBR should have said sorry, we are full and our finances are too low. Even though Tank appears to be more lab than basset, one look into that sweet face and we could not say no. We could not let Tank journey to the bridge scared, alone and never knowing the love he so deserves.
Meet Tank, just one of our special needs seniors. Tank is safe in a foster home and is enjoying the nicer things in life. He is learning that he will not be hit or yelled at if he comes into the house. He has a soft comfortable bed and good quality food. Tank has even adopted a kitten that was found on the side of the road. Such a gentle old soul who is finally getting the love he deserves.
Unfortunately, Tank is going to be a drain on our finances. He is going to need trips to the vet, blood work and biopsies to determine the best treatment. Won't you please help us keep Tank comfortable for the rest of his life?
