Thanks for visiting everyone!
It's been 3 years since Brody was diagnosed with autism and it effects every minute of our every day. New statistics show that 1 in 88 children and 1 in 54 boys are diagnosed on the autism spectrum with numbers increasing. It is the fastest growing serious developmental disablilty in the US. There is no medical detection or cure for autism. All of that doesn't have much meaning until your child is the 1 in 54. Everyday Brody stuggles to do things assumed any 5 year old should do such as communicate simple requests, make friends, or have coordination and strength to ride a bike. Tri for Autism is my way of supporting Brody and others who desperately need the help and also hopefully bringing down the statistics.
August 5th, 7:00 am I will be waiting at the starting line for the SheRox Triathlon in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. I will be swimming .6K, biking 25K, and running 5K on the Tri for Autism team. My team will be fundraising for OAR (Organization for Autism Research) and my goal is to earn $500. You may visit their website to view details at researchautism.org. I will gladly appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I train for the big day! If you feel compelled, feel free to make a donation, which can be done easily through this webpage. I thank you in advance for supporting me and the autism community!
Love, Jill
