Timothy came to BROOD from the shelter in Mercer County, West Virginia. He is a wonderful boy - very sweet, loves all people and all other dogs, loves toys and loves to give kisses! Timothy's age is estimated to be about 3 or 4 years. Timothy came to us with bowed legs and several things wrong with his elbows. He had elbow dysplasia in both elbows and a piece of broken off ulna was floating around in one elbow - and it was determined during the surgery that he also had bone spurs in both elbows. All of this was very painful and greatly impacted the way Timothy walked. Timothy was evaluated by Dr. Stiffler at Virginia Veterinary Specialists who told us that the chance of success with elbow dysplasia surgery at Timothy's age was about 50%. Timothy is not old, but the potential for this surgery to be less successful begins at age 20 months.
BROOD agreed to give Timothy that chance of being better and I offered to raise $1,000 towards the cost. His surgery was done by Dr. Stiffler on October 4 and it cost a little over $2,000. Timothy also had entropion surgery done on both eyes to prevent his eyelashes from rubbing his eyeball with every blink. I am fostering Timothy at my home and he is doing great! He is already walking better than he was before the surgery and his eyes are no longer full of goop every day!
Having this surgery has truly changed Timothy's life. He is a great basset hound (and very handsome, too!) and is now a very happy, energetic boy. Please help me raise $1,000 to help pay part of Timothy's surgery expenses. If I could raise $2,000 to cover most of Timothy's surgery expenses, it would be great - either way, the money raised to pay Timothy's expenses will hopefully allow BROOD to help the next basset in need. Any amount will help.
Thank you for visiting my Firstgiving page, and thank you for helping Timothy lead a normal life. He would give you a hug and a kiss himself if you were standing nearby (and that is the truth!).
