On October 17th, my grandchildren, Jake, Alexandra andMcKenna will run with Team Sjogren's in the Pumpkin Stampede 5K to help raise awareness and funds for Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation.
My daughter, Laura, McKenna's mom, is extremely ill with Sjogrens.
Sjogren's is a chronic autoimmune disease in which white blood cells attack and damage a person's kidneys, gastrointestinal system, lungs, pancreas, liver, moisture seeking glands, nervous system, ... Their whole body can become compsromised, eventually shutting down. Patients are very prone to cancer of the lymph gland.
Laura has been diagnosed with severe Sjogran's and has tried all available treatment options with no success. We can only pray and hope that one day soon a new treatment will become available to help her and others suffering from Sjogren's.
