Howdy y'all!

As part of Team Modern hiker, I'm going be doing an ascent up Mt. Baldy on Saturday, July 3rd. Mt. Baldy is the tallest peak in Los Angeles County at 10,080 ft, and features a 4000ft. elevation gain in 3 mi. My goal is to make it in one long ascent without stopping, which means 4 hours of constant hiking.

The ascent event is part of Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up. It's a set of outdoorsy charity events organized by the American Foundation for Children with AIDS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing medicine and supplies to children with AIDS and their families in several African countries.

In case you're curious how far your dollars will go $30 will provide enough anti-retroviral medications to help a child combat AIDS for a month. $140 will provide enough antibiotics for ten children for a full year. $500 will give an HIV+ child ALL the medicine he or she needs for 16 months, and $5000 will feed a whopping 400 children for a month, giving them the strength to keep taking the medications they need to live a normal life.
