V FOUNDATION FOR CANCER RESEARCH

Jimmy V Ride for Research 2009 Cary,  North Carolina

Jimmie West's Fundraising Page

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!  Yes, it's jimmie West and I did a good thing.  These are trying times for many and I have sent this message to 100 of my closest friends and associates in an effort to help someone outside of my circle.  Isn't that a sign of truly making a difference?  I am requesting a donation of at least $5.00 from each of you as I pedaled 50 miles on October 25th to raise funding and awareness for THE V FOUNDATION for Cancer Research.  I had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy V in 1981 and he was quite a character as well as a nice guy.  Many of us know his story about  life, basketball, cancer and being a difference maker as well as how he made that incredible speech at the ESPY's  in 1993.  Cancer has more than likely affected someone that you know and it is a  disease that knows no ethnicity or gender. It hindered my father many years ago as well as a grandmother and some close friends. The amount of money is minute though many of you are watching every cent in this economy.  However, giving is a part of God's will and when we reach out to help our brethren then we are reaching out to make the world a smaller and better place.  Some of you owe me money (funny but true!) and some of you are tighter than 3 peas in a pod but know that none of that matters as whatever we can do to save a life or prolong life is a step toward everlasting life.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!  I have been there..in  thinking what difference does 5 bucks make or I am going to blow that money on something personal but one day you look up, the years have gone by  and you have left no legacy.  Is that what we all will amount to?

I did finish the 50 mile ride in 3 hours and 40 minutes and though I was in writhing pain for about 24 hours afterwards, the feeling inside was very, very good!  My  1994 Trek 1000 did the job but is ready for a new owner as I will sell it and buy something more suitable for distance and for a brother with a hurting back!  Please give what you can and remember to do something outside of your circle to make a difference.  The feeling is amazing and the results are life changing for someone.  Women, mammograms have to be taken!  Know that real men get Prostate checks and if this is a woman reading this, make sure the man (men) in your life get it done!  No excuses!  You all mean a bunch to me and thanks for being a part of my life.  Don't make an Aggie look bad!

Thanks,

Jim  A&T 86
