A Service Dog for Stacie
Hi:
My name is "Spirit." I'm a Samoyed service dog who loves to make new friends! Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page.
I'd like to tell you about Stacie, a graduate of Sterling Service Dogs. She is one of the bravest young ladies I've ever met. Born with cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and a life threatening heart defect, Stacie has gone through many surgeries, battling to survive a multitude of medical complications. Several years ago, my own partner, Joan, enlisted the help of other trainers and myself to teach a gentle Collie to retrieve medication, call 911 and to perform many other tasks so Stacie could experience firsthand, the wonderful benefits of working with a service dog..
Her service dog's most important job has been to provide balance support through a special harness to enable Stacie to walk without frequent falls. This has greatly reduced the number of injuries she suffers each year. On bad days, he has been able to help her with his wheelchair pulling skills. During each frightening attack of cardiac arrhythmia, when the defibrillator implanted in her heart tries to shock her heart back to a normal rhythm, he's been there to comfort her, watch over her if she loses consciousness and to assist her to get up afterwards.
Stacie recently received some devastating news from her veterinarian. She was told that her beloved service dog had to be immediately retired due to a very serious health problem. The specialists who have been consulted do not expect him to live very long.
My partner has tried to ease the heartbreak of this terrible situation by assuring Stacie that her application for a successor service dog will receive top priority. However, Stacie knows as well as I do that we first have to raise at least $9500 to afford to do an out of state placement.
Without a service dog to prevent falls, Stacie is having a very rough time of it. Please help me to help Stacie to get through these dark times by giving her something to look forward to. Your contribution to fund a new service dog for Stacie would mean the world to her.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to this emergency fundraising effort.
