Hi:
My name is "Spirit." I'm a Samoyed service dog who loves to make new friends! Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page.
I'd like to tell you about Sydney, a first year high school student who is one of the bravest young ladies I've ever known. Born with a very rare disease, Wilbur Mason Syndrome, she has endured many hospitalizations and medical procedures including several brain surgeries and a series of radiation treatments in the attempt to reduce the life threatening health risks. In spite of this, as a young girl she had a terrible stroke that robbed her of the use of the left side of her body. She also went blind in her right eye and the vision in her left eye is compromised.
Sydney is a fighter and she has spent years in physical therapy battling to learn how to walk again and to regain some use of her left hand and to deal with other medical complications. A second stroke has caused new difficulties she is determined to overcome. But she sure could use some help.
Sydney dreams of a service dog trained to provide balance support through a special harness so she won't fall so often when she walks and needs to climb stairs. She also asked us to teach a service dog to retrieve dropped objects, assist her to get up after a fall, bark for help if she is injured and perform other useful tasks. However she knows my disabled partner, Joan, who started this program, won't be able to make her dream come true unless we raise funds to cover the steep expenses involved.
Without a service dog to prevent falls, Sydney is having a very rough time of it. Among the many injuries she suffered, she has broken her leg and most recently, her collarbone in a fall. Please help me to give Sydney the hope of greater safety as she navigates high school hallways and pursues her independent living goals.
Your contribution to fund a service dog for Sydney would mean the world to her.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to this fundraising effort.

Many thanks for considering this request. Don't forget to forward this to anyone whom you think might want to help Sydney too. If we can raise the funds soon, we could provide her with the gift of a service dog by the end of the summer,......what a difference that would make when she starts her Sophmore year in high school.
Hopefully,
Spirit
