My daughter Cheyenne passed away on October 8th 2008.She was born with a rare chromosome deletion on her 4th chromosome, also known as 4q21.1q21.3

Of course I had never heard of such a thing. I knew about Down's Syndrome, but never heard about deletions,  inversions, translocations,duplications, rings, etc... Many, many families and children are deeply affected by this common disorder. Many are lost, like my precious only child, Cheyenne.

CDO envisions a time in the not too distant future when doctors will have a great deal of information available on each and every chromosome disorder. They will be able to tell parents symptoms associated with a particular deletion, duplication or other disorder as well as what not to worry about. It is also our hope that appropriate therapies or other treatments will be recommended specific to particular disorders and that affected individuals will have a much greater chance of a fuller life.

This is a wonderful dream of mine, for my loss to not be in vain. I hope that my sweet daughters life can be honored by helping to make a difference in other children's lives. CDO is a wonderful organization that helped us through many tough times providing resources, information and support.
