John Newhall's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I will be running the 112th Boston Marathon on April 21st. More importantly I will be running as a member of a ten person team running on behalf of the Salvation Army of Massachusetts. This year presents itself a unique opportunity in that all money raised by the runners will go directly towards the Ray and Joan Kroc Center.
Boston was chosen as one of 5 cities to receive a grant of $90 million dollars from Joan Kroc (the wife of Ray Kroc founder of McDonalds) to fund the construction of this community center. Most Salvation Army locations are 25,000 to 40,000 SF facilities. The dream of Ray and Joan Kroc will be realized when this 90,000 SF community center is erected on the corner of Dudley Square in Roxbury. Amenities offered to the community range from a zero entry pool (like walking into an ocean), lazy river, top notch fitness centers and community rooms that go above and beyond what is presently offered by your typical Salvation Army facility. This amazing community project will benefit everyone from infants to the elderly.
While the Boston Chapter of the Salvation Army has been given the green light to begin the design phase of this building, the green light is more like a yellow light at this time. The construction and building operation costs exceed $115 million and another $30 million must be raised to make the Kroc Center a reality.
Please consider supporting myself and the Salvation Army in this very worthwhile cause.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
