World Vision - Walk Their Walk

Walk Their Walk 2008

John Freese's Fundraising Page

Hey everyone!

Thank you for visiting my 2008 walktheirwalk fundraising page. Please consider sponsoring me as I walk 12-miles on Saturday, September 13, 2008 to raise funds necessary to build fresh water wells in Twachiyanda, a community in Zambia.  Many of you know my involvement with the children in Twachiyanda.   I believe that a difference can be made, one step at a time.  My goal is to make others aware of the difference a little involvement can make.  I originally got involved to help others, which is ulimately what happens, but I am always left with feeling blessed and humbled and changed.

My youngest daughter, Kelsey, has gotten involved and now has a desire to do what she can to help.  To see a pre-teen get focused on such a large issue in a different country is truely an awesome thing.  She wants to visit Twachiyanda someday.

Zambia, a country where 11.5 million people live on less than $2 US per day, is stricken with one of the worst HIV and AIDS problems in Africa. With 16% of the population HIV positive and over 1,000,000 children already orphaned by AIDS, this struggling country is groaning under the weight of the AIDS pandemic.

Zambia is an arid country and the community of Twachiyanda is located in one of the driest places within Zambia. 40% of people living in Twachiyanda lack sustainable access to safe water supplies. The people of Twachiyanda, mainly the women and young girls, must walk five to six miles to collect water for their families, and in many cases the water they collect is contaminated. When people have compromised immune systems as a result of HIV and AIDS, drinking contaminated water could be a death sentence.

The people of Twachiyanda need access to fresh water to live longer and healthier lives. Having access to fresh water is a matter of life or death for many people of Twachiyanda. My personal goal is to be apart of the life saving solution of providing fresh water to an entire community of people. Will you help me make this happen?

Please support me by making a tax-deductible donation on my web page. Donating is simple and completely secure. World Vision will use these gifts to build fresh water borehole wells in Twachiyanda. YOU can be the difference in a child's life and future!
