Dear Friend,

Tonight, close to 300 people have warm beds, nourishing food and the help they need to get back under a roof of their own because twenty years ago Mary Isaak and a handful of dedicated caring people started an organization to help the most vulnerable people in our community. 

Mary Isaak co-founded COTS in 1988 and until her death in December 2007 she was involved with and supported the organization with dedication and care. Mary served on the Board of Directors of COTS for all this time and also volunteered in countless positions. Her passing was marked by much sadness but also with great appreciation of her life’s work. 

Over the years, COTS has provided 700,000 bednights to 2,700 homeless children and 10,000 homeless adults, served 350,000 meals and delivered 1.5 million pounds of food to needy people in our community. This is only one measure of Mary’s legacy since her generosity touched countless lives and her commitment inspired many people. 

I am so thankful that we celebrated Mary's life while she was alive, and let her know how much she meant to us. Of course naming COTS' new shelter and transitional housing facility for adults without children “the Mary Isaak Center” was a thrill for us as much as it was for Mary. 

I believe that the best way for us to honor Mary Isaak’s legacy is to carry on with the work she started and make sure that for those who have lost their home there is shelter and hope for a better tomorrow. I invite you to join us in this very worthy endeavor. As Mary often would say, let’s “share the luck”.
