The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a yearly effort of Law Enforcement Agencies across the state of Kansas to come together and raise funds for a very worthy cause, The Special Olympics. The northeast section of the torch run begins on May 27 in Lansing, KS and continues through Johnson County and on to Lawrence. During this portion of the route, I will be joining with my fellow Officers at the Shawnee Police Department to assist in carrying the torch on its way.
This is my third year participating in the event and I am very proud each year to do so. It is a lot of fun for us to get together and run through the city we patrol, but it's even better for the children of the Special Olympics, which the fund raising efforts benefit. Last year, the combined efforts of Officers at the Shawnee Police Department raised over $8,000 which went to this worthy cause. For this years Torch Run, our department's coordinator has set a goal to raise $10,000. This is a goal I believe we can meet, but we need your help.
Please help with this worthy cause by donating to our efforts. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. This site is sponsored by the Special Olympics and all of your donations go directly to that cause.
You can receive a t-shirt or baseball cap with the logo of the Law Enforcement Torch Run with your donation. If you would like to receive one, please notate that with your donation or contact me at 913-238-5722.
The video on this page is one of our local DJ's running with us at the starting line in 2007. He started running with us when the torch crossed from Lenexa into Shawnee. The group running with him is all Lenexa, Merriam and Shawnee Officers. If you look close, you'll see me...I'm the one in the back gasping for air.
I have set my personal goal at $1,000 for this event but I would love to surpass that. Thank you ahead of time for your support and please pass this page along to others that may be interested in donating.
