BRIEF TRIATHLON HISTORY
Even though I've been on the planet for sixty years, it's just my third doing triathlons.
I've done three sprints with these results:
Had my best race timewise at Silverlake (May).
The legs didn't cooperate at Sylvan Beach (June), but still enjoyed it.
Got my best age group sprint finish (3rd of 8) and 2nd best time at Jeff & Bredes (July).
I completed my first "olympic distance" triathlon in this race (The Houston Triathlon) last year. I was hoping to have a big improvement, but that didn't happen. My body said no about halfway through the run. Still managed to finish in about the same time.Oh well...I suvived and will probably do one more sprint (hopefully with a good result) this year.
Had my 2nd best time and placed 1st in age group at the Octoberfest triathlon.....good way to finish the season.
WHY COCI???
Two things in life a person has no control over are where one was born and who the parents are.
While I am fortunate on both counts, many are not.
Every child deserves a chance in life and that is what COCI is about.
COCI - Houston sponsers children of incarcerated parents (No More Victims Inc.). Something that caught my eye is that there were 45 high school graduates from the program this year. Many of them probably would not have done this without help.
Also, those involved with No More Victims have a very high success rate of staying out of trouble in this highly vulnerable group.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
If you prefer, a check can be made out to COCI and mailed or contact me for other arrangements.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
