Thank you for taking time to look at our page! For two people who never thought they'd run, much less enjoy it, we're excited to be training to run on behalf of two amazing kiddos!
Our first attempt, last year's "Tahoe Halfer" as John affectionately calls it, was... brutal. Cold, hot, uphill, downhill, windy and winding roads... We've kept on going so 13.1 miles of flat Phoenix terrain should be a piece of cake. Which, for those of you who’ll be at the finish line cheering for us, should be yellow cake with chocolate frosting served with a nice bottle of cold, chocolate milk. Thank you ;)
Enough about us. We’re honored to introduce you to our new friends, Tyler and Josh, whose stories are our inspiration to keep logging those miles!
Ms. Tyler was 10 on 2/22/07, when she was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Right Orbit, a tumor that was attached to the ligament of her eye. She bravely endured almost a year of chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries only to come out stronger in the end! With her 2 Year Anniversary being “cancer free” quickly approaching, she’s fully embraced all that is “normal” for a teenage girl!
Mr. Joshua was not quite 7 when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in June 2006. His battle has made him a frequent visitor at PCH but we're happy to announce, he's going on month two of being cancer free! You can't imagine how wonderful it is to see him run, play and finally be able to be a normal 10 year old!! Fingers crossed! This brave little man has been through more than John and I combined in our 67 years. We’re honored to have the privilege of knowing him. Sore knees and side aches are SILLY in comparison.
