John Bunch's Habitat for Humanity Haiti Work Project
Dear Friends,
This year Habitat for Humanity of Omaha is a sponsor for the 2011 Jimmy & Rosalyn Carter Work Project in Haiti. I am privileged to be able to join four other volunteers from Omaha in this rare opportunity to help build homes in Haiti during a week-long blitz build.
On November 6, 2011 our team will be travelling to Leogane, a coastal city in western Haiti and at the very epicenter of the 2010 Earthquake. Nearly 90 percent of the buildings were damaged or destroyed and tens of thousands of people left homeless or displaced. Already the poorest people in the western hemisphere, Haitians have struggled to rebuild their shattered lives. So as could imagine 18 months later the need for safe, clean housing is still great.
Our team will be joining approximately 400 international volunteers to build 100 Habitat homes during this life changing week. With faith, determination, and help from organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Leogane and the rest of Haiti is slowly rising from the rubble. There is a better future ahead.
Our Omaha team hopes to raise additional funds to support the rebuilding of Haiti. Please consider donating through this simple, fast and secure website.
All donations are sent directly to Habitat for Humanity Omaha, who will email you a printable record of your donation.
Thank you for your support-- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Remember better begins with us.
